Terry Sartain knew the moment he saw this baby colt that he had what it takes to make it in the World Champion stakes & he was keen to present to his new wife the WORLD CHAMPION title on her much loved baby. At the 2007 PHBA WORLD SHOW, UWANTAPIECEOFME, with Terry on the lead shank, went on to a wonderful UNANIMOUS VICTORY in the baby colts class. A popular win as was reported on the day, he was a crowd favorite. Karen had refused big prices on this beautiful colt. He was a present from Terry soon after they were married, this win meant more than money can buy. Terry's love reflected in the purchase of the colt, the work and committment to achieve what they had just accomplished "WORLD CHAMPION" meant so much more to Karen than we could just justify here. Terry Explained, now it was Karen's turn to HAVE SOME FUN! The GO FOR THE GOLD FUTURITIES saw Karen come home with the spoils and so proud that she had WON the money with HER own horse. She told me that she was so excited becuase Terry had allowed her to show Handsome and it was "She" that held the trophys that day. She was exstatic and Terry was so proud of her. The HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW in Houston, Texas is one of the biggest horse shows in the nation where many great horses have shown and won then gone on to be crowned World Champions. Whilst in Texas several years back i attended this event. I remember being amazed by the sheer numbers in the classes and the quality that showed there. Karen and Terry decided to take Handsome along on the trailer to this prestigious event even though he was so very growthy back in spring. He won his age class and then went on to UNANIMOUSLY win the GRAND CHAMPION STALLION AWARD in both amateur and open. Terry's faith in the horse was honored. This is a remarkable achievement in this company to take GRAND as a yearling whilst being so growthy. Sartain Equine Management is owned and run by Terry and Karen Sartain. They have a group of dedicated and honest staff who's love of horses is clearly obvious. Attention to detail, PROFESSIONALISM and honesty in representation is of the utmost importance to this unique outfit. Terry and Karen are amongst the most respected of show folk in America. Nothing was a bother, they handled, between them, everything that came along. Handsome was started under saddle so we would not have any issues with him in PEQ (Quarantine). Terry reports that the horse took it all in his stride, he was ridden a dozen times and did everything right, as he was then a mere 18 months old at this point, we then quit on him and prepared him for his trip home. Starting, transport, photos and all care right through to pick up and delivery to Flag is up Farm was handled by Karen. She loaded this baby of hers on that transporter and was very sad indeed to see him leave. Both Terry and Karen are very happy about the horse coming to Australia and having the incredible start he will receive as a sire here at Coronation Park. We will insure that Handsome has a lovely book of mares to breed over and make Karen and Terry PROUD they allowed us to purchase this beautiful golden horse. Handsome is, as most horses at 20 months of age, out of balance in these photos. He measures just under 15.3 a the wither (correct and only place to get the REAL measurement) and 16.1 at the hip, this is a BIG colt. He is still very growthy. Standing him on the ground higher in front has made him look more level for photos. REMEMBER HE IS GROWING!!! You will notice this in his profile and moving shots. From very limited showing Handsome won every time out in America, he has accrued 48 halter points from limited outings. Dr. Rigby, the man that bred Handsome and owns his sire, is an Adjunct Professor at SAM HOUSTON STATE UNIVERSITY, teaching courses in Genetics, Equine Reproduction, Equine Science, Equine Diseases, and Teaches equine Genetics at the Vet School, Rice in Houston. Dr. Rigby told me himself that he made the cross on purpose as he thought the Noble Tradition bred mare was genetically perfect for his stallion. Handsome is OURS and as always your own horse gets put on the back burner when you have a barn full of customers horses. I have shown him myself, do all the banding, clipping & bathing at shows. He is as quiet a yearling stud that we have ever worked with & hauls great. Settles into his stall easily. He is a stallion, coming two. He has Never been sick, coliced or FOUNDERED. He will be a lovely out cross on KCS mares and Kid Clu bred mares. Terry said even though he has grown so fast, he has never buckled in his knees!!
